CUBRC operates a chemical agent RDT&E test facility certified by the U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC) under a Bailment Agreement to receive, handle and use CW agents. The laboratory has an unblemished safety record since chemical operations began in 1983.
The facility’s capability highlights are:
- Three separate laboratories with certified fume hoods dedicated to testing with chemical agents
- Work is performed with chemical agents, agent simulants, and toxic industrial chemicals
- 270m3 large item chemical test chamber for large-scale experiments and testing; vehicles, shelters, and stand-off chemical detection systems
- Analytical instrumentation to support test programs including MINICAMS™, thermal desorption systems, GC, GC/MS, IR, UV/VIS, and various wet chemistry techniques
CUBRC performs chemical agent RDT&E to support a wide variety of Government and commercial customers.
- Chemical agent detector system evaluation and development
Expertise in generation and characterization of agent vapors with various interfering components
- Decontamination Effectiveness Evaluation
Small-scale individual equipment to full-scale decontamination systems; evaporation and desorption testing supporting agent fate research
- Filtration Testing
Evaluation of filters to chemical agent vapors and aerosols, and testing of full-scale collective protection systems
- NBCCS Engineering and Testing for System Development Programs
Vulnerability analyses, material selection and testing of materials, components, subsystems, and full systems
- Material / Textile Permeation and Desorption
CRDC-SP-84010 and TOP 8-2-501 for permeation and MIL-DTL-64159 for desorption
- Method Development
Development and validation of analytical methods for simultaneous low-level monitoring of multiple chemical agents
CUBRC provides research and testing of exceptional technical quality and is flexible and responsive to individual customer needs.
