About the CenTIR

The CenTIR operates as a program within CUBRC, with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) providing the primary source of funding for the program.  Technical oversight of the CenTIR is provided by FHWA’s Turner-Fairbank Research Center.

In conducting various research projects, the CenTIR typically utilizes the expertise of CUBRC’s engineering and scientific staff as well as various research faculty at the University of Buffalo.  At any given time however, the CenTIR may also be engaged collaboratively with one or more outside institutions on individual research projects. Over the course of the last ten years, these institutions have included local and state government agencies, private industry and various research universities.

The figure below summarizes the current organizational structure and the collaborative history of the CenTIR.
