The CenTIR was established in 1998 as a cooperative research program between the Erie County Medical Center, the University at Buffalo and General Dynamics.

The CenTIR was formed to support the Technology Development Initiatives Partnerships Program (TDIPP) established by the TEA 21 legislation.

New Tools to Reduce Deaths & Disabilities by Improving Emergency Care: URGENCY Software, Occult Injury Warnings, & Air Medical Services Database was submitted for presentation and publication at the 2005 ESV Conference.
