CUBRC operates CDC-permitted BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories and performs biological RDT&E program to support Government, Intelligence and commercial customers.

Biological Agent Testing and Evaluation

• Detector Test & Evaluation
  Evaluation and testing of biological agent collectors, triggers and detectors against fluidic and aerosol challenges

  Evaluation of decontaminants, methodologies, and hardware systems against biological organisms

  Generation and characterization of respirable biological aerosols to support detection RDT&E

  Testing of novel filtration media, mask filters, protective barriers, and collective protection systems.

Method and Assay Development

• Techniques for target concentration, filtration, and extraction from complex sample matrices and various types of biological collection media
• Bench-scale and microfluidic scale development of PCR assays; target primer/probes, IPCs; Quantitative RT-RT PCR
• Production, purification and characterization of selected antigens and development, production, and purification of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies to the antigens
