Vice President of Aeronautics Sector
Dr. Holden is an aerospace scientist who is internationally recognized principally for his extensive research in supersonic and hypersonic flows. Dr. Holden obtained his Ph.D. from Imperial College for experimental research and analysis associated with shock wave/boundary layer interaction and separated regions in the hypersonic flow regime.
He began a career of system development and basic research with emphasis on experimental research and testing in hypersonic flows, the area in which he now is a recognized expert. He has authored over 200 papers in this and allied fields. He has made unique contributions over the past 25 years through the conceptualization, construction and operational systemization of three new major ground test facilities (LENS I,II and XX), and their applications to the design and development of U.S. ballistic and scramjet powered weapon systems, space capsules, the Space Shuttle and space planes.
Dr. Holden has served on national and international committees for the United States and AGARD, and has served in many capacities for the AIAA as Associate Fellow, Conference Director, Distinguished Lecturer, and most recently, as AIAA Fellow .
