CUBRC operates Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) and Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) facilities permitted under the Federal Select Agent Program.
CUBRC offers BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratory facilities to support research, development, test and evaluation in microbiology, virology and molecular biology.
We have the capability to support research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) in the areas of microbiology, virology, molecular biology, method development, biological detection, decontamination, and individual and collective protection. We maintain an aerobiology capability aimed at testing detection, decontamination and disinfection technologies.
Aerosol test chambers range in size from 1.3 m3 to 600 m3 in volume. Our 800 ft3 (10’ x 10’ x 8’) test room is engineered to meet BSL-2 requirements and has the capacity to evaluate room-scale air disinfection systems using aerosol challenges of selected viruses such as human coronavirus HCoV-229E and Influenza A H1N1.
